Project Summary

The New York Palace is a luxury hotel located in Manhattan at the intersection of 50th Street and Madison Avenue. The Palace’s 55-story tower has 813 guest rooms and 86 suites, a spa and fitness center, state-of-the-art meeting and conference space, a wedding and reception venue, and a restaurant/bar at The Madison Room & Bar. The hotel achieved Green Key Certification for its environmental performance.

Healthy Buildings’ Role

Healthy Buildings provided sustainability services for The New York Palace Hotel to further the sustainability efforts of the hotel and help the hotel gain recognition. Healthy Buildings successfully implemented components of the hotel’s sustainability program, including Green Key Certification; Press Release Development and Distribution; Energy Star Portfolio Manager Development; New York City Local Law Compliance (LL84); Energy Star Partnership; conducting a Greenhouse Gas Inventory; and a LEED EBOM Assessment.

Project Highlights

  • Green Key Certification for the nearly 1M sf facility – Achieved 4 out of 5 keys.
  • New York City Local Law Compliance (LL84) – Compiled utility usage data into ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager and submitted required documentation to the City of New York.
  • Green House Gas Inventory – Established baseline inventory from which to gauge all future sustainability projects.
  • LEED EBOM Assessment – Determined potential LEED certification points achievable and developed matrix to guide future efforts toward certification.
