Gwen Merkin

Program Manager, Corporate Sustainability

Ms. Merkin is the Program Manager for Corporate Sustainability at Healthy Buildings. She is a city planner with extensive knowledge of sustainability as it relates to existing buildings. Gwen has more than 10 years of experience in the fields of energy efficiency, corporate sustainability, green building, waste auditing, and city planning. Gwen is skilled in developing corporate sustainability programs, conducting training programs, and evaluating existing buildings for efficiency upgrades. Prior to joining Healthy Buildings, Ms. Merkin worked as the manager of sustainability strategies for Cushman & Wakefield where she developed policies and programs to integrate sustainability into the company’s service offerings. In addition, she coordinated the company’s LEED EBOM Portfolio Program (now known as Volume) which resulted in certification of 18 properties. Prior to her work at C&W, she was an energy auditor at Steven Winter Associates, where she coordinated the energy audit for Peter Cooper Village – Stuyvesant Town, a 11,232 unit building complex in New York City, and developed the Global Sustainability Program for AIG Insurance.

As the Program Manager of Corporate Sustainability at Healthy Buildings, Ms. Merkin actively assists corporate clients to develop strategic sustainability programs. She works with clients to achieve LEED and BOMA 360 certifications as well as the EnergyStar label. Currently, Ms. Merkin heads up the company’s Local Law 87 compliance program coordinating audits and retro commissioning projects; in addition, she leads Healthy Building’s waste auditing and implementation program. Ms. Merkin heads up the Healthy Buildings in-house Green Team to ensure that the company “walks our talk” by employing sustainability practices at our offices.
