Project Summary

Wilshire La Brea mixed-use development by BRE is a block-sized development that will consist of six stories and 478 residential units, 44,000 square feet of retail, 997 parking spaces, and two pools. The project is designed by TCA Architects and is planned to be adjacent to Metro’s Purple Line.

Healthy Buildings’ Role

Healthy Buildings has been managing the LEED certification efforts and was selected as the Commissioning (Cx) Authority to provide both Fundamental and Enhanced Cx, meeting the requirements of Energy & Atmosphere (EA) Prerequisite 1 and EA Credit 3. In addition, Healthy Buildings is providing air quality testing for Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Credit 3.2, as well as tracer gas testing to meet the requirements of IEQp2: Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) Control.

Project Highlights

  • BRE is pursuing LEED New Construction Gold Certification.
  • The mixed-use development is adjacent to the planned extension of the public Metro service.
  • Indoor air quality was ensured both during construction and prior to occupancy through the implementation of Healthy Buildings’ air quality management plan and air testing.
  • By commissioning the MEP systems within the facility, Healthy Buildings provided the QA efforts necessary to ensure the systems were installed and functioning as designed.
